You can adjust the screen brightness of both the Control and Standby screens.
Step 1: Go to settings by tapping the 'Settings' icon on the control screen.
Step 2: Tap on 'Display & Brightness'.
Step 3: You have the option to adjust the active screen and standby screen brightness. Drag the slider to adjust the brightness. You can also adjust the screen timeout settings from here.
