If your Cielo Smart Thermostat is not detecting a wire or is not turning on, this is usually due to wiring or configuration problems. Below are the most common causes and steps to resolve them.
Possible Causes
- Wire end is not straight, corroded, or not fully inserted
- No electrical current present on the wire
- Using stranded wires with loose strands or wires that are too thin
- Wires not properly configured during setup
Check & Fix Undetected Wires
Before handling wires, always turn off power to your HVAC system at the circuit breaker or master switch.
Step 1: Remove the thermostat display from the base.
Step 2: Pull out one wire and inspect it:
- The exposed copper should be ⅓–½ inch long, clean, and straight.
- If corroded or bent, cut and re-strip the wire.
Step 3: Reinsert the wire fully into the terminal using the terminal block button.
Repeat this process for all wires and reattach the thermostat display, and restore power.
Verify Wire Compatibility
Use 18–22 gauge wires, which are standard for residential HVAC systems. Wires that are too thin may not be detected.
Reconfigure Unconfigured or Unspecific Wires
Once you've reinstalled the wires, re-run the system configuration either on the thermostat or through the Cielo Home app. Cielo Smart Thermostat will automatically detect the configured wires.
However, if you’ve checked wiring, compatibility, and configuration but the issue persists, please contact the Cielo Tech Support Team for further assistance.
