An offline thermostat means it isn’t connected to the Wi-Fi, and you cannot control it using the Cielo Home app. Some features, such as setting a PIN lock on the device, may also be unavailable.
Check if you are facing any of these issues:
- Your thermostat is offline in the app.
- You can only control your HVAC system using the thermostat, but not the app.
Troubleshooting Steps
Follow these steps to get your Cielo Smart Thermostat back online.
Note: You should be at home, as most of the troubleshooting steps require physical access to your thermostat and the internet router.
1. Make Sure Your Cielo Home App Is Up to Date
Check that you have the latest Cielo Home app version. Visit the App Store or Google Play Store and check if an update is available.
If your app is up to date or if updating doesn’t resolve your issue, proceed to the next step.
2. Reconnect Your Thermostat to Your Home Wi-Fi Network
If you have recently changed your Wi-Fi password, reconnecting your thermostat can help resolve the issue. You can change your Wi-Fi network on the thermostat itself or using the Cielo Home app.
👉 Here’s how to change Wi-Fi settings on your Cielo Smart Thermostat.
📢Important
- Ensure your smartphone is connected to the Wi-Fi network you are connecting your thermostat with.
- Your Wi-Fi signal should be strong and stable.
- Make sure to enter the correct password. Your Wi-Fi password must not contain any of the following characters: {, }, !,"
This restriction only applies when changing Wi-Fi on the device. This doesn't happen when connecting your thermostat to Wi-Fi through the Cielo Home app.
3. Check Your Home Wi-Fi Connection
Test your internet connection by using your phone or any other electronic device that connects to Wi-Fi.
Note: If you are testing on your smartphone, turn on Airplane mode and then enable Wi-Fi to ensure you aren’t using cellular data.
If you cannot use the internet on other devices, proceed to the next step.
4. Restart Your Router
When you restart your router, it refreshes your internet connection. If you’re using Wi-Fi extenders or repeaters, restart them as well. Check your router’s manual for instructions on how to restart it.
5. Change Your Router Placement
Check the placement of your router; if it’s too far from your thermostat, try moving it a few feet to improve signal strength.
If your thermostat is connecting and disconnecting to the internet, it means there is an interference. Turn off the nearby devices that use the 2.4 GHz band, such as cordless phones, microwave, Bluetooth accessories, or wireless video equipment. Avoid placing the router inside cabinets or near other electronics, as this can also disrupt the connection.
6. Connect to a Different Network
To check if your home Wi-Fi is causing the issue, try connecting your thermostat to a different network. You can turn on your mobile hotspot and temporarily connect to it to see how the thermostat responds.
Note: Cielo Smart Thermostat only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. It will not connect to 5 GHz networks.

Fixes for Your Home Network Connection
- Strong firewall rules or parental controls can block communication with the thermostat servers. Try lowering these restrictions temporarily to see if the connection improves. Check your router or access point manual for instructions on how to remove your thermostat from these restrictions.
- If the issue continues after adjusting firewall or parental control settings, make sure your router is configured with the following:
- Enable 802.11 b/g/n (especially if you’re using an 802.11ac router).
- Set the DHCP lease time to at least 2 hours.
- Enable Power Save Mode (PSM) on the router.
